Community School Readiness Surveys

Despite the MANY challenges everyone has faced in the past year, we know there are some things to celebrate. Please take a moment to answer this 2-question survey about the successes achieved in your home, classroom or organization.

Join us June 3rd at 1pm!

Our June GSC Quarterly Meeting will be held via Zoom. We are delighted to have Bethany Foote and Laura Ynclan leading us in a celebration of this past year! Additionally, the Kalamazoo County Early Childhood Racial Equity Cohort will share about their work. An email will be sent to the address you provide in your RSVP.

Family Resource Page

GSC's Parent Coalition is an amazing group of parents & caregivers who meet to connect and talk about ways that we can support families in our community. Despite COVID-19 restrictions, the group was able to work on an important project this past year...and we are excited to share it with you! Our GSC website now has a Family Resources tab that was created by the Parent Coalition. The resources are organized into various categories such as: food, housing and early childhood learning. The Parent Coalition made decisions about the design of the page to ensure that it is easy to navigate and parents worked hard to create lists of resources that are available to families throughout Kalamazoo County. We are hopeful that this page is useful to families in our county, so please share with parents and caregivers! We are also committed to updating the resource page over time. If you see any resources that should be included, please fill out the form at the bottom of the website page and we will continue to add to the lists!

Talking is Teaching Early Literacy Campaign

Summertime is a great opportunity to enjoy and explore the outdoors with our little ones! The sights, smells and sounds give us so much to talk about with our young children. And tuning in, talking more, and taking turns, helps those little brains grow by leaps and bounds! This summer, we are excited to offer families Talking is Teaching Literacy Walks held in various parks throughout the county. Colorful yard signs will lead the way, encouraging you to explore the images and respond to questions with your little one. Special event giveaways are being held at various locations.
