We Walk Together from Day One... Sunday January 1st at 1:00pm

download 2

An invitation for you and your neighbors to gather together, simply as human beings, and walk. This is not a protest and there is no agenda, it is just unity. We walk together in solidarity, and start over from Day 1. We put aside what divides us and focus on what unites us – our humanity. This is just one day to simply walk together.
Starting at Seed Song Farm (160 Esopus Avenue) at 1pm. Ending at The Greenhouse at 65 St. James St. Following the walk we can gather to get warm, some hot drinks and continue discussions. In the face of so much that divides us, let us not forget that we are united by the bonds of our common fellowship in the human race.

Catching up on 2022

At last month's meeting participants took a look at events, projects, and other things currently on our minds. Below are some subjects that came up:

community fund

The Good Work Institute is working at getting the word out about their community controlled fund proposal. The idea comes from their commitment to building local economic power and encouraging projects to democratize wealth. It is still in its early stages, discussions will continue and if you are interested in the idea, GWI has set up a resources and research page on their website where you can become informed and add your own questions.

listen first

Listen First, a collaborative group to which Break Bread belongs, attempts to transform division and contempt into connection and understanding by building bridges and creating large scale campaigns.

ministry

The Ministry for the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson was one person's outstanding read in 2022. According to Bill Gates "it does a better job than any other book I’ve read of playing out, in a dramatic but realistic way, how high temperatures can literally kill people...it explains a lot of the science well." "But this is not a hopeless book," he goes on: "Robinson presents a stimulating and engaging story, spanning decades and continents, packed with fascinating ideas and people."

Tildas

Our own Tilda's store is becoming more and more popular, a great place midtown to pick up farm produce, buy some great cooked food and spend your Currents. Will they need a bigger space in 2023?

Transition Circle Kingston Transition

What role does Kingston Transition play in the community? How does the Transition Town movement mesh with the movement towards a Just Transition. Do we need Kingston Transition to become a platform to connect the various entities that make up the broad ranged community of care in Kingston?
