Prayer

For whom are you praying today?
How can we pray for you?

We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week!

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"Another great week in store for us. God is faithful and loves each one of us so much! We are truly blessed. I have been enjoying watching my garden grow and the flowers in full bloom. My sunflowers are even attracting the yellow finches – they like picking out the seeds and then the petals fall off. I snapped a great picture of that. God even cares for the birds. Look around – so many blessings – don’t miss them."

"The WORD God gave me this week is “FRIENDS.” In my lifetime, I have been blessed with some great “friends.” I have been especially blessed because some of those have been lifetime “friends.” There is a lot to be said for special “friends.” When you can go for weeks and sometimes months before seeing or talking to your “friends” but when you do, you pick right back up and never miss a beat. That is a true “friend.” Jesus' inner circle or disciples were His “friends.” He tried to teach them the value of a great “friend” in His ministry. These are some qualities of a “friend” - loving, respectful, positive influence, forgiving, loyal, supportive, reliable, trustworthy, and dependable to name a few. We need to check our “friend” meter and make sure we have those qualities. We need to ask the Holy Spirit to help us to be that kind of “friend” that would always show love to one another. Being a “friend” can be saying the right words at the right time or not saying anything at all. “Friends” are priceless treasures. Love is the glue that holds “friends” together at all times, bad or good. There are so many people that need a true “friend.” Let us keep our spiritual eyes open to the Holy Spirit leading us to that “friend.” Make a new “friend,” be a “friend,” touch base with that “friend” from the past. Our opportunity awaits! My prayer for us this week is that we let the Holy Spirit guide us to the path of “friend.”

Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless - cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help. That way, God’s bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything -
encores to the end of time. Oh, yes!
~ 1 Peter 4:8-11 (MSG)

News of the Week

We ended last week with a cookout and picnic. Sue Weaver came to join us, we grilled burgers and hot dogs, took silly pictures, played broom ball, and had a fantastic summer celebration.

This week has been all about sorting and organizing seeds, weeding, finding more zucchini (so much zucchini!), moving mulch and more. On Wednesday, Western Reserve United Methodist's youth came to spend the morning at GG. This wonderful group continued the work on the path in the woods. It was fantastic to welcome a new group here and to reconnect with their leader, who is an old friend of GG. We hope that we will finally finish the path in August, when CG's Youth Group has another service day. Today, everyone is working on harvesting and washing produce for CSA pick-up. This week, subscribers will be getting the best sweet corn around, straight from McMaster Farms! Extra produce also went to a local food pantry today.

On Saturday, there is a Fundraiser in Leetonia for a local mom, Robin Stumpo, who is battling cancer. Robin is the mother of GG intern Cameron's girlfriend. The fundraiser will feature a pasta dinner, Chinese auction, vendors, and a raffle. We donated a basket of jams and crackers (picture above) to the auction. If you are free on Saturday, take a drive to Leetonia to support this worthy cause, have some fun, and maybe win a prize!

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
