New Metallic Braided Nylon Cord + Free Tutorials

0.9mm Ø Metallic Silver, Copper, and Gold

This cord is strong, and it can be knotted, crocheted, braided, added to kumihimo as a metallic accent. It can be used for Shambhala bracelets as long as the beads can handle the cord diameter. The cord ends can be melted. The cord can be washed, and it dries quickly.

Constructed with 16 metallic thread braided around a white central nylon core. Each of these individual thread are constructed with a gimp construction just like the Japanese metallic thread/cord available here, but this cord is not quite as soft as the Japanese Metallic Thread/Cord. It is stiffer and just a bit scratchier, but still comfortable to wear. Altogether the metallic braided cord is very strong, we tested it holding a 16 lb. weight and we believe it can handle much more weight without breaking but we do not have a convenient way to test higher weights.

This cord is a great find. I believe it has lots of possibilities. I feel i have just scratched the surface. Send me an email if you want a sample to test with your next order. - Marion

Available in 6.5 yd - 6 m Spools | 0.9 mm in Ø Braid Construction

The cord is nice a round, and it hold its shape. It knots easily and the knots stay in place. It can be braided and used for crochet. The cords ends can be melted and just like Chinese Knotting Cord, it is best to cut the cord with a thread burner to keep the braid from opening up and thread from spreading out.

Thread Burners - Recommended over lighters for melting the cord ends. The Metallic Braided Nylon Cord is completely fusible and the ends can be melted. Thread burners are precise and lessen the chance of damaging the work. Regardless be careful not to get burned, work in a well ventilated area, and keep thread burners away from children. > Thread Burners and Cord Zappers

Celtic Bracelets DIY Tutorial

For these Celtic Bracelets, I followed the DIY Ombre Knotted Bracelet Tutorial written by Beth on the Remarkably Domestic Blog with a few differences.

These bracelets are made with a repeated knot pattern. The actual knot is called a Carrick Bend, a Josephine Knot, a Pretzel Knot, or Pretzel Link depending on which tradition you follow. The knot is easy to do once it is mastered. The tutorial is available HERE.
