Celebrate a Healthy, Independent Life!

The Fourth of July is not exactly the halfway point of the year, but it's close enough to consider it the perfect time to reassess all those New Year's resolutions you made.

How are you doing? Have you kept up with those daily runs, or those after-work visits to the gym? Are you eating less pasta, drinking less soda? Or like most of us, have you been "off the wagon" for going on five months now?

For those of you that haven't...congratulations, and keep up the good work!

For those of you that have...stop beating yourself up!

We're all human, and we all slip up from time to time. But the only thing that can prevent you from living a healthy, independent life is an "I can't do it" attitude.

Take some time this Independence Day to reflect on the first half of the year, and decide where you'd like to be by the end of it.

And don't forget, we're always here to help :)

Sun Safety Campaign 2017

EWG Sun Safety

Picking the right sunscreen is an important part of sun safety, but one can make the argument that sunscreen should in fact only be used as a last resort. Well Within carries several safe and effective choices.

According to EWG, there are at least five things that are more important to sun safety, starting with a simple one...clothing!

1) Wear clothes

Shirts, hats, shorts and pants shield your skin from the sun's UV rays, reducing burn risk by 27%.

2) Plan around the sun

Go outdoors in early morning or late afternoon when the sun is lower in the sky.

3) Find shade, or make it

Picnic under a tree or take a canopy to the beach. Keep infants in the shade, reducing the risk of multiple burns by 30%.

4) Sunglasses are essential

Not just a fashion accessory, sunglasses protect your eyes from harmful UV radiation.

5) Check the UV Index

The UV Index provides important information to help you plan your outdoor activities in ways that prevent sun overexposure.

Sun Safety Guide for Children

kids sun safety

From the backyard to the playground, swimming pool or park, some of our kids’ favorite times are spent in the sun during the summer.

But during the fun, kids are more vulnerable to sun damage, even more than adults. A few blistering sunburns in childhood can double a person's lifetime chances of developing serious forms of skin cancer. The best sunscreen is a hat and shirt. After that, look for a sunscreen that's effective and safe.

Protect your precious ones with this step-by-step guide from Healthy Child Healthy World, powered by EWG.
