 | | The 10th District GOP Convention is Tomorrow! | First, I would like to thank you and congratulate you for taking your civic responsibility seriously and signing up to be a delegate at this most critical time in our nation’s history. There is a lot of information here for the upcoming 10th Congressional District Convention, which I hope will make your participation easier. This will now be an “un-assembled” or “drive-through” convention to be held on Saturday, June 20th, 2020, from 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM. Credentialing will be done in the parking garage behind the Wilkins Athletic Center at Shenandoah University, 1188 Ralph Shockey Drive, Winchester, Virginia 22602 – access via Route 50 and Tulane Drive, just east of I-81. Please have your government-issued photo ID handy for each registered delegate in your vehicle. See below for maps. I will be hosting a Hospitality Suite with light refreshments at the La Quinta Inn in a suite on the third floor, adjacent to the convention venue. You are welcome to stop by if you’d like to speak with me either before or after voting. Voting time will be divided by units into zones. No registered delegate will be turned away, but please try to arrive during your unit’s allotted time to make tallying the vote easier and to minimize traffic congestion. Address: 1188 Ralph Shockey Drive Winchester, VA 22602 See Google Map | After credentialing, delegates will exit the rear of the garage onto the surface lot, and make a left U-turn, following Ralph Shockey Drive back out to the side lot of the Stadium where you may pause to complete ballots. After marking ballots, delegates will continue in the same direction to the front lot of the Wilkins Center where ballots and delegate credentials will be collected in several lanes. The ballot for the Republican Congressional Nominee will contain four candidates, and will be a ranked-choice vote. Watch Video Here for a brief explanation of Ranked-Choice Voting (RCV). You will be asked to mark your candidate selection from 1 to 4, with 1 being the most preferred, and 4 being the least preferred. Of course I hope that I will be your first choice (1), but if not then may I kindly ask you to put me as your second choice? Only the Congressional candidates will be by Ranked Choice. The resolutions detailed in our recent mass-mailing have since been removed from the ballot by the District Committee. | Why Vote for Matt Truong? 1) I am and will continue to be a tireless advocate for freedom. Seeing my home country of Vietnam become ruined by big government policies has taught me the importance of being vigilant when it comes to protecting our God-given rights. As a survivor of socialism, I can credibly argue against the radical policies of Nancy Pelosi and Jennifer Wexton because I have lived it. There is no doubt that I WILL fight tooth and nail to prevent this from happening to US here in America. 2) I strongly support the second amendment. I have experienced what it is like to lose the right to protect yourself. Anyone can talk about protecting the Right to Bear Arms, but I actually witnessed and lived through the police state of the Viet Cong regime. I am highly rated by the VCC, VCDL, GOA, and NRA. Matt believes that "Red Flag Laws" are an interim step toward total gun confiscation. They are a weapon to terrorize and suppress law-abiding citizens who support the Second Amendment. They also violate nearly half of the bill of rights, particularly the Fourth Amendment regarding due process. 3) I am 100% Pro-Life and believe that life begins at conception. I pledge to propose and vote for legislation that defends the sanctity of human life, from conception to natural death, and promote alternatives to abortion such as adoption. I will be a strong voice for the unborn and the forgotten women who have suffered from the harsh consequences of abortion. I firmly believe life is a gift from God and that all babies, born or not yet born, must be protected. 4) I have 26 years of experience as a Business Executive. Like many freedom-loving immigrants, I came to this land of opportunity in hope of working my way up. I am grateful for the chance to earn your vote, and to do more to give back to the country that I love. I am using my background, experience, and accomplishments to help others to succeed, and it will be my honor to do the same for YOU. 5.) I understand how important every dollar is because I came to America with only two sets of clothes. This is why going into the convention, my campaign has considerably more cash on-hand than any of my GOP competitors. I manage my campaign the same way I will work to manage our nation's finances - frugally. Visit FEC.gov to see the proof. 6) I am helping to grow the conservative base through outreach to untapped minority communities. I visit many ethnic communities and show them that their values such as family, religious liberty, and school choice, align more closely with Conservatism rather than Socialism. The 10th District has undergone a rapid demographic shift with an influx of Asians with over 9% growth annually, and Latinos with over 7% growth annually many of whom share our conservative values and have yet to realize it. I have and continue to encourage people to get involved and even run for office to MAKE VIRGINIA GREAT AGAIN! I have inspired several members of immigrant communities to get involved and run for office, such as Srilekha Palle, who ran as a Republican candidate for Member of the Board of Supervisors in the 2019 election, and Manga Anantatmula, who is now the Republican nominee for the 11th Congressional District race. 7) I believe in grassroots activism. I became active in politics because I am sick of the “all-talk, do-nothing” politicians. This is why I have volunteered to aid the Republican Party starting in 2014. I have worked hard as an activist and as a former Vice Chairman of the Fairfax County Republican Committee to help conservatives take back Virginia. I have been a tireless supporter of President Trump and have helped to reach out to the Asian-American communities for the campaign. I have received the endorsements of several key Virginia conservative leaders such as Morton Blackwell - The father of American conservative activism. I will continue to work hard to help conservatives take back Virginia. 8) I have proudly taken the lead on the issues that matter to Virginians. I led in calling out Governor Ralph Northam for his incompetent management of the Wuhan Coronavirus which is destroying the lives and livelihood of too many Virginians. I also led the pack in bringing attention to the petition signed by 30 college student organizations who have asked President Trump to stop outsourcing STEM jobs to foreign workers and to protect the jobs that belong to American graduates. I spoke out at the rally in Prince William County to maintain the 287(g) program which facilitates local cooperation with ICE to keep dangerous illegal aliens off our streets, and keep our communities safe. I also called out the Black Lives Matter organization for their vicious lies as well as the myth of systemic police racism which is clearly disproven by statistics. I shouted from the virtual roof-tops about the danger posed to our republic by manipulators such as the Soros family, the Open Societies Foundations, and their networks of seditionists and subversives such as ANTIFA. 9) I have brought forth fresh ideas for actionable, single-issue legislation to help solve many of the problems facing our nation today. I ask for your vote. Please make me your first choice for nominee at the Republican 10th Congressional District Convention this Saturday. If for some reason you still can't make me your first choice, then I humbly request that you make me your second choice on the Ranked-Choice Ballot. I know that I have the experience, drive, resolve, and persistence to beat Jennifer Wexton in November, and to properly represent the people of the 10th District in Congress. In these unsettled times, we need a strong, conservative candidate who will uphold the rule of law, and hold himself and others accountable. That candidate is me. I will continue to speak and act against the radical policies of Wexton, Pelosi, and the Democrats, and work to further expand the GOP base. Real Experience. And we must have a person who will support the President, and his agenda, one hundred percent, on day one. I know Matt Truong well, and he is the ONE person. I know he is the one who has done it all and has the demonstrated experience to carry the ball for us, the President, and our Country.
