JUST ANNOUNCED BY MAYOR BLOOMBERG

HARD PLASTIC IS NOW RECYCLABLE

Last week, Mayor Bloomberg announced a change in recycling for New York City - the biggest expansion of the program in 25 years!

Effective immediately, the City will collect rigid plastic. That's all of your empty yogurt cups, plastic coat hangers shampoo bottles, takeout food containers and even toys.

It is expected that this change will divert 50,000 tons of waste a year from landfills. Read more at nyc.gov.

COMMERCIAL BICYCLES TAKE EFFECT NOW

FAILURE TO COMPLY CAN RESULT IN FINES

Bikes are an inexpensive, fast, and efficient way to deliver goods. The city has laws and rules to help make commercial bicycling safer. Administrative Code of the City of New York §10-157 and §10-157.1 pertain to businesses that use bicycles for commercial purposes. Failure to comply with these laws and rules may result in a fine.

The North Flatbush Avenue BID held a merchant meeting in March and handed out NYC Department of Transportation packages with ID tags and information, we also delivered these packets to every restaurant in our district.

These fines are hefty, please dont be fined! Make sure your business knows the rules and regulation. NYC DOT will be out in force very soon. For more information and what your business needs to know, CLICK HERE.

Feel free to contact the BID office for additional DOT packages or information. We also have a few orange reflective vests left for sale. or you can purchase them HERE. call us at 718 783 1685 or email us at info@nfbid.com.

Please make sure that your sidewalk benches are permited, otherwise you will be ticketed.
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles does not register electric bicycles, therefore their operation is prohibited in New York City.
