Special guests this Sunday

Colvins-SAMS-300x228

The Reverend Deacon Matt Colvin and his wife Sora are full-time foreign missionaries of the Reformed Episcopal Church. Later this fall they (and their children) will leave for the Philippines, where Dn. Colvin will teach at a school for missionary children (Matt has a Ph.D. in theology) and Sora will not only serve as a mid-wife, but also train other women in the same.

I had the opportunity to meet the Colvins at Diocesan Council and to hear their presentation. I was very impressed. They will be our guests this weekend and will address the adult Sunday School class this Sunday (November 18th).

Please plan to attend!

Operation Shoebox Update

photo

A hearty “thank-you” to all who participated in making this year’s “Shoebox Project” for Samaritan’s Purse a success. Whether you packed boxes, donated items, contributed financially, or helped pack, wrap, sticker, rubber band, label and stack boxes, or served lunch for the packers and cleaned up afterwards, your help made a big difference. All of your willing hands, both children and adults, made this undertaking a joy.

Please pray that the Lord will use these boxes to draw children in difficult circumstances, and their families, to Himself. This year we are using special bar codes to track some of the boxes and we will report when we learn what countries they landed in.

This year we packed 204 boxes (up from 160 last year).

Donations to help offset the cost of shipping these boxes ($7 each) are welcome.

A special "thank you" to Diane McTigue for all her work to organize this ministry.
