My Fellow Republicans,

DSC 5004

I Congratulate Aliscia Andrews on her Nomination!

I spoke with Aliscia Andrews earlier today to congratulate her on receiving the 10th Congressional District GOP nomination. I urge all of my supporters to join me in congratulating and helping Team Andrews to reach our common goal of unseating Jennifer Wexton and winning back the House.

There is no doubt that I will continue to be a tireless and strong advocate for fighting against socialism, defending the 2nd Amendment, preserving the sanctity of human life, enforcing strong immigration policies, balancing the budget, and reducing spending.

There were just over 1600 delegates registered and 1240 came out to vote. That is a good turnout. Though less than a perfect process, the drive-through convention was exciting and positive.

Due to the CCP coronavirus crisis and the restrictions that were imposed by Governor Northam, the method of voting was changed to ranked choice to avoid multiple rounds of re-balloting.

In the first count, I was about 1% behind Rob Jones:

1.  Rob Jones: 31.63%
2.  Matt Truong: 30.49%
3.  Aliscia Andrews: 27.55%
4.  Jeff Dove: 10.33%
1. Rob Jones: 31.63%
2. Matt Truong: 30.49%
3. Aliscia Andrews: 27.55%
4. Jeff Dove: 10.33%

Jeff Dove was dropped and the result of the second round was also very close:

1.  Rob Jones: 34.29%
2.  Andrews: 33.00%
3.  Matt Truong: 32.67%
1. Rob Jones: 34.29%
2. Andrews: 33.00%
3. Matt Truong: 32.67%

Aliscia moved up from third to second place and I was dropped with a difference of only 0.33%..

Even though it is within my right and the right of my supporters to demand a recount due to the very close loss - by less than one percent, potential irregularities during the tallying process, and a discrepancy of 11 ballots in the credential verification process, a challenge may be divisive to the party at a time when we need complete unity. There is too much at stake. We MUST unite the Republican party in order to unseat Jennifer Wexton in November. Therefore, I have decided that my campaign will NOT ask for a recount, and that we will throw our support to our nominee, Aliscia Andrews.

In order to best aid Aliscia in her bid for the Tenth District seat, I have asked her to consider the following since I understand the concerns of my conservative core voters very well.

We must energize our conservative base in order to bring out the maximum number of Republican voters in November. To do this, she should show us that she will fight the democrats' poor policy choices across the board, including:

▪ Fighting Socialism
▪ Championing pro-life positions and promote adoption
▪ Protecting the 2nd Amendment and the rest of the Bill of Rights
▪ Stopping Illegal Immigration, Build The Wall
▪ Balancing the Budget and Reducing Spending

I urge Aliscia to pledge to roll-back every Democrat grab at power in the event she wins in November with a Republican majority in the House.

I would also urge her to pledge to use every trick in the book to block the Democrats on every front if she should win with a Republican minority in the House in 2020.

In addition to the Congressional race, I also congratulate the winners of the party offices.

Thank YOU!!!

I would like to thank Chairman Leeds, the 10th District Committee, and the army of volunteers who worked very hard to make the modified convention a success.

A huge thank you once again to my campaign team, volunteers, supporters, and donors. I am deeply grateful to all the delegates who took the time and effort out of their busy schedules to drive out to Winchester to volunteer and to vote for me. This journey would not have been possible without you and your dedication.

Last but not least, I would like to take this time to thank my wife and my two boys for their sacrifice over the past several months. I would not be able to do all of this without their constant support.

Rest assured that I will continue to remain active in helping our party and our candidates as I have been doing since 2014.

I hope to see you all again as we work hard to make sure that Jennifer Wexton is a one-term Congresswoman!

Let's all join the #Wexit movement and help Make Virginia Great Again!

Best regards,

Matt Truong
