December 2010 News - Mages ... and Monsters

Well, the good news is that Mages & Magic is done and available online. (See below.) The "monsters" are the numerous things that sprang up to keep me from completing Frost Harrow 1 this month. Among them, an editorial commitment on a book by another author and -- by far the worst -- a sudden bout of stomach flu that completely wiped me out for most of a week. It also scotched, temporarily, the free story I hoped to give away between Christmas & New Year's. Maybe in January, but you'll have to be patient.

I've learned from this experience, though, and you'll find the results in my revised Editorial Calendar elsewhere in this newsletter.

One of the reasons for the FH delay is that I want this book (and the whole Frost Harrow series) to be the absolute best it can be. That means extra writing, rewriting, polishing, and editorial time. The end result will be great, I promise! But unless one of you volunteers to be an (unpaid) Editorial Assistant (to do all the non-writing things I need done), I've only got so many hours in the day -- and, sadly, I also have to sleep (and eat) sometime!

Delays aside, I'm still very excited about the projects I'm working on, and I hope you are, too. I'm especially stoked about the release of our fourth Blue Kingdoms anthology (immediately below) -- and about my increased public appearances this year. (See the Appearance Calendar even further below.)

Blue Kingdoms: Mages & Magic is Here!

Right at the end of 2010, Mages & Magic -- the fourth Blue Kingdoms anthology -- was released in e-format for Kindle on Amazon and all other reading devices on Smashwords. Click the links in the previous sentence to go to the respective sales pages. (You can get the Kindle version on Smashwords, too.)

The book is also available in printed form from Createspace and Amazon.

Be the first on your block, in your unit, or in your gaming group to get this cool new book. There's magic and alchemy and seductive monsters and a whole lot more!

Editorial Calendar

Well, I learned a few things since last month about editorial calendars. First lesson: Don't over schedule. My plans completely outstripped my time in December, and thus I've adjusted and pushed a few things back, including a few things you didn't even hear about previously.

NOW! - Blue Kingdoms: Mages & Magic
January: Snowraven
February: Frost Harrow 1: Scream Lover
March: Kidnapped by Saurians (Dungeons & Dinosaurs)
April: Bryon Wilde story (untitled) or Elf Erotica story (untitled)
May: Frost Harrow 2: Die with Me

Also in February/March - Walkabout Publishing releases Unforgettable by Paul McComas
Summer: Walkabout Publishing releases the 2nd GenCon Author's Collection

I hope to sneak a few minor short stories in as well, but time and other commitments will tell!

Second Lesson: Tune into my Facebook & Twitter accounts for exact release dates!

Appearances Calendar

Hey! I'm expanding my appearances at conventions and other venues this year -- and this is the place to keep track of 'em!

February 10-13 - Capricon, Chicago - Panels & More
February 16 - School Appearance, Kenosha, WI - A Bit of Teaching
March 18-20 - C2E2, Chicago - Participation in programing TBD
March 25-27 - GaryCon, Lake Geneva, WI - Gaming & more
June 17-18 - SE WI Festival of Books, Waukesha, WI - Panels
August 4-7 - Gen Con, Indianapolis, IN - Writing Seminars

Plan to take in some (or all) of these events, pick up a new book or two (and get it autographed), and drop by and say "Hi!"

Revised Covers for the "Classics!" (And more on the way.)

Free Stories Still Available

My "write a review, get a free story" policy continues -- and some folks are building up quite a free story collection! So, if you've posted something on your blog, or Facebook, or Amazon (or elsewhere), let me know. You can contact me through those services, my website, or just write to fanmail@stephendsullivan.com.

For your efforts, I'll send you a free story in PDF, or a format you prefer. I'll even try to send something you haven't seen before.
