Just A Few Days Left To Give!
5 Year Celebration &
As many of you know we are in our last push to get our yearly Holiday party finished up! This is a big event for us each year, and this year it is especially great because we are celebrating 5 years as an organization.
The Holiday Party is a time that we are able to bless those in need in a huge way! We will be having a meal of celebration, as well as giving out grocery store gift cards to our graduating students, and gifts to every child in need who comes to the party! With just a few days remaining we are still accepting those last minute donations that you might have for our organization and for this great occasion.
If you would like to donate there are 3 ways: 1. Donate a gift card from Walmart, Kroger, or Target for us to hand out to familes in need, 2. Donate gender neutral gifts for us to hand out to children who may not get anything else this Holiday season, or 3. Click the Pay Pal or P button at the bottom of this newsletter to donate a monetary amount for us to use to fill in the needs through out this event and season. Thank you in advance for your help through this event, we couldn't do it with out the help and support of people like you.
All New Database!
NICE is undergoing some exciting changes. As discussed in last month's Newsletter we have been accepted to Resettle new refugees in the Nashville area. This is very exciting for us here at NICE! With this new growth we recognized a need for new technology growth as well.
With the help of our amazing intern Karen McGee and Dr. Bill Thompson, we now have a fabulous Filemaker database that will help our staff and interns save countless time and ensure that all of our clients are taken care of in exactly the right way.
The database will virtually affect every aspect of NICE. Right now, its two biggest uses are in organizing contacts (clients, staff, volunteers, teachers, etc) and managing all aspects of our Education program. It also includes small areas for our Immigration and Employment Services and has room for growth in these areas. We also anticipate using the database to fit all our needs when we begin resettling refugees. We are so thankful to Karen and Dr. Bill for their hard work bringing us this most important change!
Our Staff Is Growing!
->Meet Our New Member<-
NICE has added a new employee to our team! Sarah Russ will be working as a part- time employee assisting in our School Impact Program, increasing to full time with other responsibilities at the end of the year.
The primary component of our School Impact Program is the organizing of Cultural Exchanges, which bring cultural representatives to schools in Davidson and Rutherford Counties to speak with teachers and other staff. The goal of the program is to ease the integration of refugee youth into the schools through improved communication and cultural understanding. To learn more about Cultural Exchanges and how you can host one in your school please e-mail email@example.com.
