Sold Out! Growing Local sprouts up to full capacity!
Sold-out once again, this year's event is taking place Feb. 23-25 at the Marlborough Hotel. Last evening, internationally acclaimed Anishinaabe author and orator Winona LaDuke kicked off the conference to a packed house in the spectacular Skyview Hall. Ms. LaDuke is also opening Friday’s ceremonies this morning for what is sure to be two amazing days of learning and interacting with the food issues across our province.
Celebrating 5 years as Manitoba's premiere food security event, Growing Local brings together consumers, farmers, traditional food harvesters, CED food actors and everyone in between, for 3 inspired days of learning and sharing.
For those that were unable to get a ticket to this year’s event, there are still ways to attend! Tomorrow, Sat Feb 25th, portions of the afternoon’s conference will be open to the public for free!
Those interested are welcome to attend the following events at no charge:
11:45am to 12:15 – “Local Food 101” (Oxford Room, Marlborough Hotel)
This workshop will explore how you can eat better, cook healthier, save time and feel good. It’s a free event open to everyone that will help you figure out why local food is important, where to find it, and how you can make the switch today!
3:10pm to 4:10pm – Empty (readings from a Winnipeg play) (Skyview, Marlborough Hotel)
Plus, from 12pm on, feel free to stop in and check out the great conference displayers!
