Dear Friends of Willow Springs,

It has been a little longer than usual since the last newsletter. I'm feeling rejuvenated from a summer of abundant growth and am eager to share with you our upcoming offerings.

During September, we will be hosting a special Art Opening with Rebecca Seary and Aram Larsen, a four-week series on herbalism with Penelope Sullivan, and another bellydancing series with Jaimie des Tombe. Information regarding our ongoing natural building series in collaboration with Mud and Pearls will come in a later mailing.

Lastly thank you to everyone who participated in making our Living Skills Day event another success. All the teachers, musicians, volunteers, and attendees came together beautifully to create a special afternoon.

"Catch and Release" Art Show Opening - September 10

In the spring, local artists, Rebecca Seary and Aram Larsen, began an ambitious project entitled, "Catch and Release", documenting the unique character of the Ridge community through portaiture. Please join us in viewing the first phase of this project from 2 - 11 pm on Saturday, September 10. Paintings and prints will be on sale. There also will be live music (to be announced) as well as an open bar and homemade treats.

We continue to have an incredible line-up of teachers throughout the week in the yo'garage. Catherine Stifter returns in September to teach Qi Gong on Tuesday mornings. And Jaimie des Tombe begins another 6-week Belly Dancing series on Thursday (including an Introduction class at 5:15 pm for those wanting to test the waters). We have also added a twice-a-week Core Conditioning class with Lebin St. John that is sure to get you in shape.

Living With Vitality Series - Begins September 10

The Living with Vitality Series will be a four week series, in which participants get a deep understanding of different ways to create vibrant well-being. Specifically, each session will be a two hour workshop which will be a combination of shared knowledge through a talk, exercises that support the discussed topic and hands on experiences that allow participants to embody the knowledge.

For example, in the first session we will discuss the importance of nutrition in supporting vital health. In discussing this topic, we will learn such practical details as how to prepare vital foods, examples of long lived cultures and how they eat, and how to create vibrant well balanced meals, etc. We will also discuss the importance of cleansing diets as well as building diets. In this part of the workshop there will be ample time for questions from the students.

Throughout the workshop we will also participate in exercises that supplement and enhance the topic being discussed. For instance, as we are learning about nutrition we will perform exercises that enhance digestion.

Lastly, we will participate in a hands on experience in which the participants can create what we have discussed. For example, during session one, we will prepare a meal together to take home or eat together.

WEEK ONE: Nutrition

WEEK TWO: The importance of Cleansing
We will go deeper into the body's main eliminatory organs and how to best support them…..Including the liver, kidneys, colon, lungs, lymph and skin. As a direct experience we will go through some hands on healing protocols such as castor oil packs, making a liver tea and a kidney tea.

WEEK THREE: Herbal Remedies
This week we will focus specifically on creating a variety of herbal aides, including teas, tinctures, poultices, and salves. This session will be largely hands-on.

WEEK FOUR: In Depth
This week we will go deeper into our herbal knowledge and focus specifically on men, women and children and get a clearer understanding of how the different healing actions of particular herbs. We will again all create herbal products to keep.

Cost: 95.00 for series/25.00 per class
Sliding scale may be available for those with sincere interest.
