Leukocytoclastic Vasculitis (LCV)
It's definitely one of those terms that makes me want to say "gesundheit" every time I hear it. But for Cinnamon, LCV is no sneezing matter. LCV has many causes, and it's manifested itself on both Cinnamon's back hooves.
Cinnamon was one of the twenty-two horses HSSF received from A Chance for Bliss in September. This condition was the reason she was given to the sanctuary.
With the guidance of our veterinarian, Cinnamon is on the most aggressive treatment for LCV. Almost 30 days into her care, it looks like we're making some progress. The inflammation immediately subsided at the onset of treatment, and it appears that the lesions are beginning to diminish. Even her comfort level has improved - she now stands with her weight on all four feet.
We're beating this thing with all we've got, and our fingers are crossed that the next 30 days will prove to be successful. We'll keep you posted on her condition.
