A Few Spots Left for the Chileno Valley Cycling Classic
There are still a few spots left for the Chileno Valley Cycling Classic, which is coming up on September 19, 2010. We'd love for you to join us for this beautiful road ride, and fabulous post-ride event. For more information about the ride, or to register, click here.
NICA and NorCal are Headed to Interbike
This year at Interbike, NICA will be reaching out to high school mountain bike supporters and sponsors across the United States. Attending Interbike on behalf of NICA are Matt Fritzinger, Gary Boulanger, Kozo Shimano, Chris Spencer, Lauren Haughey, Nat Lopes and Eric Russell. Vanessa Hauswald will be representing the NorCal League and Matt Gunnell will represent the SoCal League. If you are attending Interbike come by the NICA booth number 3304 (IB10).
New Composite Team Rule for 2011
A small but important change has occurred to the NICA rulebook, which governs the NorCal League's races. Composite teams, which allow teams from multiple schools, now have an additional restriction. If composite teams successfully recruit five or more riders from the same school, then those riders must be scored as a separate team. Please note that composite teams can still continue to train together as a single program. The rule was modified to ensure the spirit of high school racing is preserved at the team level.
Children of the Dirt on YouTube
The NorCal League video, Children of the Dirt, is now on YouTube. This is a great resource to have if you’re starting a new team, or if you want to give potential riders, parents or sponsors more information about NorCal. Check it out!
Coaches' Manuals are Back in Stock
The Coaches’ Manuals are finally back in stock and ready to roll out. These are a great resource for head coaches, assistant coaches, ride leaders, volunteers and anyone else who rides with youth. To order one, please visit the coaches store.
2010 Leaders' Summit is Right Around the Corner
The annual NorCal League Leaders’ Summit is coming up on October 16 & 17, 2010, and this year Albany High School is proud to provide the venue for the event. The Leaders’ Summit brings together coaches, assistant coaches, ride leaders, and parent volunteers—both new and experienced—to develop skills and knowledge, share strategies, and build community. This conference will promote a holistic approach to coaching that creates an environment in which young people can grow and thrive. For more information, and/or to register for the Summit, please visit 2010 Leadership Summit.
