Njacko's Work in Schools

In 2010 so far, Njacko has visited more than 40 schools and libraries through Mariposa in the Schools (MITS)! He feels blessed to have the opportunity to share his music and art with all of the children that he meets every day.

It is not too early to contact MITS to book Njacko for the 2010-2011 school year. It is actually the best time to set up workshops and performances for Black History Month (February 2011).

We give thanks to Cogeco who prepared a documentary about Njacko's work with MITS.

June 11 @ The Opera House - Prelude to Afrofest

Njacko Backo and Kalimba Kalimba open for Quartier Latin Academia from the Congo. Not only will this be a night of great music to kick off Afrofest (look for it July 10 & 11), but it is also a fundraiser for OSEA - a Not for Profit Organization which supports social entrepreneurs in Africa and also works to improve the health care system.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.musicafrica.org ($50/$30/$25)

Summertime = Live Music!

The best time to support live music is really all year round, but with the good weather upon us, it's even easier to get out and enjoy some live shows!

You can catch Njacko on June 12th at East Lynn Park(FREE!), Njacko and Kalimba Kalimba on June 24 for the Grandmothers to Grandmothers JABULA! celebration and at 9pm on June 26th at the Distillery District as part of the Toronto City Roots Festival (FREE!).

Stay tuned for details about more dates in July!

Update on our Project in Bazou

A big thank you again to everyone who came out to support our fundraiser on May 7th at the Gladstone Hotel. We have raised $4000 for our first project at L'École St. Albert Le Grand, and we will be sending the first sum of money to the school this week!

Please visit our website for updates on the project: www.bazouschool.blogspot.com.
