Leah Tysse Concert - Saturday November 12th

a benefit for Humane Society of the Sierra Foothills

Join us this Saturday at the DeWitt Theatre on 11596 D Avenue, Auburn for a great time with the Leah Tysse band as they release their 2nd CD.

The Tysse Band has played the Monterey Bay Blues Festival and took first place in the Battle of the Bands. "You Don't Scare Me" from her first CD was named the Best R&B Blues Song of 2007 by Bilboard magazine.

Audiences and peers have compared Tysse's voice and stage presence to such artists as Aretha Franklin, Joss Stone and Susan Tedeschi, yet she maintains a fresh originality that sets her apart from virtually anyone currently performing -- often to sold out crowds.

For HSSF, she'll be performing with her Bay Area band and local Auburn musician (and HSSF book store shopper) Ted Stancliff on guitar.

With the decrease in donations to non-profit organizations these past few years, funding for our programs have been severely impacted. Leah Tysse’s benefit concert is critical to helping us continue to help animals.

Funds will be used to care for animals while we look for new homes. Right now, we have horses, pot-bellied pigs, goats, sheep, cats and dogs that depend on us. The cost of medical care, food, and shelter is something that continues regardless of a depressed economy and often at a higher cost to do business.

In July, HSSF completed the biggest seizure of neglected animals in Placer County at a cost of nearly $30,000. Our humane officers are in the field helping to educate animal owners and we're always ready to take in abused and neglected animals regardless of how many need our help -- so funding from this benefit event is a welcome relief.

We’re all looking forward to rocking out with the Tysse Band on the 12th.
