How fast can you reach your customers?

There's a new technology out there we think your community should know about. A variety of service providers now offer broadcast messaging systems - that allow you to contact all of your customers by phone, email or text message in mere minutes.

These service plans are surprisingly affordable and can be used for both emergency and non-emergency communications. We blogged about this last week in "A New Era for Public Notification." If you've used one of these systems, we'd love to hear about it!

Weekly Reading for May 10, 2011

Each week we'll provide a collection of our favorite links we know you'll love too!

1. State Rural Water Associations in Mississippi and Alabama provide emergency assistance following the recent deadly and damaging tornadoes.
2. Small town profit/nonprofit partnerships - This blog post from Small Biz Survival showcases ways entities in small communities can work together for the greater good.
3. Havasupai Tribe to develop and enforce water quality standards - Native American communities often share many of the same challenges as small communities within states. "Treatment in the same manner as a State" for this tribe should further enhance the ability to provide training and technical assistance to their communities.
4. EPA cuts will impact Texas water, wastewater programs - Decreased funding for the Drinking Water and Clean Water State Revolving Funds means some projects queued up in Texas won't happen until there is new funding.
