A Visit with Dr. James Dobson at Family Talk

Scott and I recently visited Dr. Dobson at his new ministry headquarters in Colorado Springs. What a great experience to meet a man we both admire and respect so much. The visit came as a result of a blog interview I did a few months ago. I was asked, "Who is someone you'd like to meet?" I said, "I'd love to meet Dr. Dobson and thank him for the way he has blessed our family over the years." A member of Dr. Dobson's staff forwarded the blog to him. He then emailed me and invited us to visit him the next time we were in Colorado Springs. Last Wednesday we spent about thirty minutes with him in his office talking about family, ministry, writing, and grandkids. It was a wonderful visit and a memory we will treasure!

Cover Ideas for my next novel - A MAN TO TRUST

On June 1 I turned in my latest novel for Love Inspired, A MAN TO TRUST. Even though the book doesn't release until March 2012 the process of creating the cover is already underway. I filled out several online forms, giving the art department summaries of the story and information about the characters. They also ask me to send images suggesting the type of scene I would like on the cover. Here are two I sent along to give them some ideas of my characters and the setting of the story. It will be fun to see what the artist comes up with for a the cover design.

My next book for Love Inspired is a Christmas themed story set in Fairhaven featuring a heroine who is a personal chef just launching her business and a hero whose wealthy family owns most of the business properties in town. I'm just beginning to work out the plot and characters. It releases in November 2012.

Visiting Our Grandkids

My husband and I recently visited our oldest son Josh and his family in California. I LOVE being a grandmother to Hudson, Hayden, and Hanale. We enjoyed celebrating Hanle's first birthday on our last visit. All the grandkids have beautiful blue eyes, which I like to think they inherited from me and I suppose from their mom and dad, Melinda and Josh, too. We had had a great visit and look forward to seeing them again later this summer. Seeing all our kids and grandkids growing up is a huge blessing!

Bill's Chicken Two Tomato Ziti
Featured in SURRENDERED HEARTS
8 ounces ziti pasta
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
1 tablespoon olive oil
6 ounces already-sliced button mushrooms
1 cup diced onion
1 green pepper sliced
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 teaspoon bottled minced garlic
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1 can (14 1/2 ounces) fire roasted diced tomatoes
1/2 cup sun dried tomatoes, sliced
Parmesan cheese, optional garnish

Cook the pasta according to package directions.
Cut chicken into roughly 1/2-inch chunks. Heat oil in a 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add onion, peppers, mushrooms and chicken. Salt and pepper lightly. Cook, stirring occasionally, until chicken is no longer pink, about 6 minutes.

Add the garlic and Italian seasoning. Cook and stir for one minute. Add canned tomatoes with juices and dried tomatoes. Bring to a boil. Boil, stirring occasionally, until sauce is thick, about 5 minutes. Serve over hot, drained pasta, topping with Parmesan cheese and enjoy.
