St. Mark's Church - Weekly Update

New Service Time - 10 am

clock-507

This past Sunday, the vestry approved my suggestion that our Sunday morning service time change to 10 am, followed by Sunday School (for children, youth and adults). My main reason for desiring this change is that I believe that we will have greater success building our Sunday School ministry when Sunday School follows the service, rather than the reverse.

NOTE: This Sunday (Oct 2nd) our service is at our "old" time (11 am) - the change takes effect on Oct 9th.

Church Work Day - This Saturday

YardWork-1

All are invited to come out on Saturday, Oct 1st for a day of yard work. 10am-4pm.

Lunch will be provided.

Please bring your own equipment and come out to lend a hand - whether you can be here the whole day or only part of it!

SHOEBOX PROJECT - OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Kindly help support this Samaritan's Purse Christmas mission outreach by filling shoeboxes with useful and fun items for the world's neediest children. There will be a brief introductory meeting to kick off this project following the service this Sunday, October 2nd in the Fellowship Hall.

Here are 2 ways to be involved: (1) You and your family can prepare shoebox gifts at home – either in plastic shoeboxes provided by us (no wrapping necessary, and we'll decorate them with Christmas stickers for you) or in your own wrapped standard-sized shoeboxes (please wrap the box and lid separately). There is a shipping charge of $7 per box. No time to shop? We'd be pleased to fill a box for you - a $20-$25 donation will pack a nice box, including shipping. The St. Mark’s collection date for boxes you’ve packed will be Sunday, November 13th. Brochures and materials will be available in the Fellowship Hall after services.

(2) Join us on Sunday, October 30th after the service for a Parish Shoebox Packing Party in the Fellowship Hall. We have lots of pre-puchased items waiting to be packed. All are welcome – please feel free to bring a friend. We will need box wrappers, packers, and labelers. Pizza, salad and drinks will be provided.

Please see Diane McTigue with any questions or donations (215-942-9173). Thank you! Read more online.

A Farewell "Thank You"

Dear Vestry Members & Congregation,

Since so many of you were involved in our farewell, we thought it best to use email. Jan and I want to thank each of you for the wonderful sendoff we received on Sunday. The food at the reception was great and the cake was wonderfully decorated and delicious. Thank you as well for the beautiful fall wreath, the National Cathedral books, Cathedral Choir CD and the restaurant gift card. One of our favorite places to eat is Bonefish, which is located just five minutes from our house.

The entire membership is to be commended for your cooperation and willingness to face significant changes this past year. We leave you in good hands as you continue your walk of faith with Jason, Sara and David. Thank you for receiving Jan and I as part of the St. Mark's Church family. We were never treated as if we were just passing through, but with respect and love. All of you will always hold a special place in our hearts. We look forward to being with you again on October 15.

Sincerely in the Savior's love,
(Cn.) Chuck & Jan
