Winter News 2012

Happy, our Great Pyrenees, soaking up some February sun.

It's mid-winter, the time of year when cabin fever has set in (for those of us who are house-bound, or not vacationing in the sunny south). It's also the time of year when the sun has some warmth, and the air at times holds the scent of spring. We've been having a few of those lovely and warm, sun-filled, promise-of-spring days lately, the kind of days which have me longing to be outdoors soaking up the sun.

Winter, for me, is normally a time of hibernation, a time of recharging body, mind, and spirit, (and catching up on paperwork). Well this winter certainly wasn't like that, leaving me feeling a bit off kilter! Time in my studio and office was difficult to come by, making each moment I was able to be there even more rewarding than usual. I am looking forward to things returning to a more even keel as the days lengthen.

Here are a few projects I've worked on this winter:

Section of "Canadian Sentinels" rain barrel art by Spirits of the Heart. Birch tree by Julie A. Brown. Other artists: Iris Shields and Anne-Denise Mejaki. Created for Harder 4 Carter fundraiser.

Rain Barrel Project

There is nothing like spending some quality creative time with two talented artists to keep cabin fever at bay!
Iris Shields and Anne-Denise Mejacki, my Spirits of the Heart cohorts, and I donated our time and skills to paint a rain barrel as part of the Harder 4 Carter fundraising efforts.

"Canadian Sentinels" will be auctioned off (along with other items) at The Event with all proceeds going to the Carter Antilla Memorial Skate Park in New Liskeard. Auction items are on display at CIBC Wood Gundy on Whitewood Avenue in New Liskeard.
