Auburn Animal Shelter Update
We Need Your Help
Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery started the wheels turning for a new Auburn Animal Shelter in the County Government Center (formerly known as DeWitt). With adequate funding available, staff began discussions after Supervisor Montgomery's appeal to "fast-track" a new facility. But this is by no means a done deal. A majority vote by the Board of Supervisors is required to keep this project moving forward.
*Your representative needs to hear from YOU!!*
To help you navigate through this process, we created a special webpage. Auburn Animal Shelter
Please go there now and take a few minutes to see how you can best help YOUR Supervisor understand the critical nature of a new facility.
Communicating with your Supervisor will let him/her know that the current animal shelter is inadequate to house the animals needing temporary shelter. Tell them that when the shelter has no space available, the lives of adoptable animals become threatened. Tell them that when aggressive animals threaten citizens, the animal shelter is the ONLY place for these animals to go. "No Room At The Inn" just doesn't work where public safety is a concern.
Then stay tuned for further details. Thank you for helping show your support on a new Auburn Animal Shelter.
