At the Montauk Club - June 2017

The Club has Culture in June

There are 2 Jazz Nights, 1 Piano Concert, and Poetry Reading on the scheduled this month.

In addition there is 4-Course Wine Pairing Dinner (RSVP by June 4th) and the annual Summer Solstice Cocktail Party.

The Beer Club will be held on June 15th this month and our Book Club wraps up its season on June 16th.

Jazz Nights, Friday, June 2 & 16

Doors open at 7pm and show begins at 8pm. Host Jon Varnedoe brings back his Jazz Nights and welcomes fellow club members. Cover $10. Members may use their accounts to charge food and drink.

Piano Concert - Wednesday, June 7th 7pm

Please join us for a musical performance by pianist Sébastien Cornut. His program From Vienna to Paris, A Musical Journey Through 19th Century Europe which includes works for piano by Schubert, Chopin, Liszt, Wagner, and Chabrier .

Mr. Cornut, originally from Paris, France, has performed solo recitals, chamber music concerts and concerts with orchestras in France, Lebanon, the Ukraine and the US. He holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester.

RESERVE NOW - Wine Pairing 4-Course Dinner - Thursday, June 8th, 7pm

Acting Manager and Chef Larry Berson teams up with wine expert Ms. Tara Cooney to present a special 4-course dinner with wine, wine and wine. It sounds DELICIOUS! Cost is $65 plus admin fee and tax. Click on This Week's Menu button at the bottom to print PDF of menu.

Reservations are required by Sunday, June 4th - When making reservations, please note any dietary restrictions.

Artful Dodger Poetry Reading Series - Sunday, June 11th at 2pm

A new poetry reading series commences on June 11th in the Fontana Room. Readings by Anton Yakovlev and club member Harvey Soss will be among the featured readers.

Book Club: Friday, June 16th 7pm

This month's selection is The 2 1/2 Pillars of Wisdom by Alexander McCall Smith. Welcome to the extraordinary world of Professor Dr. Moritz-Maria von Igelfeld, an unnaturally tall and memorable character whose sublime insouciance is a blend of the cultivated pomposity of Frasier Crane and Inspector Clouseau's hapless gaucherie.

Summer Solstice Cocktail Party - Wednesday June 21st

The Entertainment Committee invites all members to help welcome the summer season. This annual event will have a slight twist the year ----- there will be Tarot Card Readings to add to the fun!

Monthly Club Meetings

Beer Club meets every the second Thursday of month at 8:00 pm in the Board Room. Next meeting is one week later June 15th.

Wine Club meets every second or third Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm. Next Meeting: Pending

Book Club meets every third Friday of the month in the Board Room. Next meeting is June 16 discussing The 2 1/2 Pillars of Wisdom by Alexander McCall Smith.

NOTE: Book Club is on hiatus in July and August. Summer Reading for September Les Miserables by Victor Hugo and The Novel of the Century: The Extraordinary Adventure of Les Miserables by David Bellos.

Committee Meetings

All members are welcome to join the Entertainment, House and Membership committees. In addition to these Standing committees there is also the Reciprocal and Communication committees. For more information call the Club office.

Entertainment Committee has changed its meeting time to the first Wednesday of each month. Erin Walker-Fortin and Liz Anthony, Co-Chair.

House Committee meets the next to last Wednesday of each month. Suzy Marquard, Chair
Membership Committee meets the third Thursday of each month. David Carter and Kurt Schlachter, Co-Chair
Board of Directors meets the last Wednesday of each month. Tim Thompson, President

Reciprocal Clubs

The Montauk Club offers its members reciprocal privileges to a number of clubs, many of which are outside of the United States. Club members wishing to avail themselves of these agreements need to obtain a letter of introduction to present to the reciprocal club for each visit. Letters may be arranged by contacting the Club Manager. For a full list of reciprocal clubs click HERE

General Clubhouse Information
* A la carte dining is available on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday beginning at 6:00 pm, with the last order to the kitchen at 9:30 pm. Friday nights, the Club is open until midnight with last call at the bar 11:45 pm.

▪ Our traditional Sunday brunch is served 11:00-3:00 pm, with the last order to kitchen at 2:30 pm.
▪ Happy Hour is every Wednesday 5:30-7:00 pm. Drinks are half price.
▪ For special occasions – weddings, parties, meetings, etc. – members are, of course, invited and encouraged to make individual arrangements.
