Victorian Seances - Friday October 20th at 7:15pm

Once again we will explore the dark history of Brooklyn's oldest private Club. We will be utilizing classic techniques and artifacts as employed during the height of the Spiritualist movement in the Victorian era. This evening will be conducted in two phases. The theme of this year's Sessions will be:
- Spirit Eradication
- Red Light Seance
Formal Evening dress suggested.
Event Fee $35 includes Champagne and Charcuterie Board

RSVP NOW -- Each séance is strictly limited to 13 Sitters.

A second séance is planned for November 1st The Day of the Dead. Reserve now!

Shanghai Mermaid Victorian Seance and Opportunity to see Hot Sardines - Friday, October 27

The Shanghai Mermaids will present their annual Victorian Seance in the Ballroom of the Club. This event is being co-produced by member Jon Varnedoe and Jon has graciously invited Montauk Club members to attend without an admission charge.

Members wishing to attend should observe the dress code for the evening - 1920s, 1930s, victorian, victorian mourning, edwardian, gowns, tuxedos, top hats, and any historical costume of an earlier time {1933 or before}.

OTHER EVENTS BEING PLANNED

The Entertainment Committee has some other events in the works for this month that include: Cocktail Night, Wine Tasting, a Fall Brunch, Speed Social and Oktoberfest. Details will be provided in future emails.

Club Opens for Saturday Dinner November 4th

Beginning November 4th the Club will be opened on Saturday nights if no private event as been booked.

THANKSGIVING - November 23rd

Leave the mess and enjoy a stress free Thanksgiving at your club.

Note too that the Club will be opened Friday and Saturday nights (Nov 24-25) .

Monthly Club Meetings

Beer Club meets every the second Thursday of month at 8:00 pm in the Board Room. Next meeting October 12th.

Wine Club meets every second or third Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm. Next Meeting: Pending

Book Club meets every third Friday of the month in the Board Room. Next meeting is on Sunday, October 22nd at 1pm. Selection for October is The Spy Who Came in from the Cold by John LeCarre.

Artful Dodger Poetry Readings is held the third Sunday of the month. Offering poets an open mic. Next Meeting; October 22nd.

Committee Meetings

All members are welcome to join the Entertainment, House and Membership committees. In addition to these Standing committees there is also the Reciprocal and Communication committees. For more information call the Club office.

Entertainment Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month. Erin Walker-Fortin and Liz Anthony, Co-Chair.

House Committee meets the next to last Wednesday of each month. Suzy Marquard, Chair
Membership Committee meets the third Thursday of each month. David Carter, Chair
Board of Directors meets the last Wednesday of each month. Michael A. Cairl, President

Reciprocal Clubs

The Montauk Club offers its members reciprocal privileges to a number of clubs, many of which are outside of the United States. Club members wishing to avail themselves of these agreements need to obtain a letter of introduction to present to the reciprocal club for each visit. Letters may be arranged by contacting the Club Manager. For a full list of reciprocal clubs click HERE

General Clubhouse Information
* A la carte dining is available on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday beginning at 6:00 pm, with the last order to the kitchen at 9:30 pm. Friday nights, the Club is open until midnight with last call at the bar 11:45 pm. Starting November 4th, the Club will be open on Saturday nights.

▪ Our traditional Sunday brunch is served 11:00-3:00 pm, with the last order to kitchen at 2:30 pm.
▪ Happy Hour is every Wednesday 5:30-7:00 pm. Drinks are half price.
▪ For special occasions – weddings, parties, meetings, etc. – members are, of course, invited and encouraged to make individual arrangements.
