At the Montauk Club - December 2017

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

This December there seems to be even more happening at the Club than usual. We hope to see many of you at the club as we celebrate the this holiday season.

Please note that the Club will not be opened for Sunday Brunch on December 24th and December 31st.

Annual Employee Holiday Fund

Our gracious staff is the backbone of our beloved Club and the Holiday Fund is the opportunity for the FULL membership to show its appreciation. Please give as generously as you can and return the form sent to you with your check or credit card instruction by December 17th so funds can be distributed at Victorian Christmas dinner on December 21st.

Family Holiday Brunch, Sunday December 10th

Once again member Liz Anthony hosts the Family Holiday Brunch with good cheer and special holiday projects for the children.

Holiday Concert - Thursday, December 14th at 6pm

The Berkeley Carroll School brings the sounds of the season to the Club. Come for the concert and stay for dinner. A buffet supper will be served on the second floor immediately following the concert at approx. 7:15pm
Cost all inclusive: Adult - $25 Child under 12 - $10

Victorian Christmas Dinner - Thursday, December 21st beginning at 6pm

Long a tradition at the Club, celebrate the holidays with friends and family in the Victorian splendor of the Club. Chef Larry will provide a special meals and of course there will be Christmas Carols.

Passed hors d’oeuvres at 6 PM, dinner to follow. Cost is $65, including tax and service.

The ever-humble Allan Kramer is our host.

Gramercy Opera Presents - Dicken's A Christmas Carol, The Opera 3 performances Dec 1 - 3 in the Ballroom

A new opera and new way to visit with the Ghosts of Christmas. Through the magic of theatre and the season our ballroom transforms itself into mid-1800's London. Performances on December 1st and 2nd begin at 7pm and December 3 at 3pm.

This is new adaptation - as a ballad opera - of Charles Dickens’ text with music written by composer/musical director Felix Jarrar and a libretto by stage director/librettist Brittany Goodwin.

Tickets price: Adult - $35 plus fee Children Under 10 - $20 plus fee

Wine & Chocolate Holiday Celebration - Thursday, December 7th 7-9pm, in Ballroom

The Brooklyn Woman's Club, a Park Slope based group supporting women and children in need, invites Montauk Club members to their holiday bazaar. Shop for unique holiday gifts -sustainably sourced, locally made and hand-made items.

Cost is $30 payable at the door.

Monthly Club Meetings

Beer Club meets every the second Thursday of month at 8:00 pm in the Board Room. Next meeting December 14th.

Book Club meets every third Friday of the month at 7pm in the Board Room. Screening of A Quiet Passion as bio-pic of poet Emily Dickenson starring Cynthia Nixon. Next meeting is on Friday, December 15th

Artful Dodger Poetry Readings is held the third Sunday of the month. Offering poets an open mic. Next Meeting: December 17th.

Tarot & Arcane Arts Meet-Up is held the second Wednesday of each month. Next Meeting: December 13th

Committee Meetings

All members are welcome to join the Entertainment, House and Membership committees. In addition to these Standing committees there is also the Reciprocal and Communication committees. For more information call the Club office.

Entertainment Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month. Erin Walker-Fortin, Chair

Reciprocal Clubs

The Montauk Club offers its members reciprocal privileges to a number of clubs, many of which are outside of the United States. Club members wishing to avail themselves of these agreements need to obtain a letter of introduction to present to the reciprocal club for each visit. Letters may be arranged by contacting the Club Manager. For a full list of reciprocal clubs click HERE

Club Amenities Partnerships

One of the privileges of membership at the Montauk Club is taking advantage of partnerships we have with local businesses. To inquire about these amenities, please contact frontdesk@montaukclub.com.

Current partnerships include discounted hotel rooms at Fairfield Inn & Suites and EVEN Hotels Brooklyn.

General Clubhouse Information
* A la carte dining is available on Wednesday through Saturday beginning at 6:00 pm, with the last order to the kitchen at 9:30 pm. Friday and Saturday nights, the Club is open until midnight with last call at the bar 11:45 pm. Starting November 4th, the Club is open on Saturday nights.

▪ Our traditional Sunday brunch is served 11:00-3:00 pm, with the last order to kitchen at 2:30 pm.
▪ Happy Hour is every Wednesday 5:30-7:00 pm. Drinks are half price.
▪ For special occasions – weddings, parties, meetings, etc. – members are, of course, invited and encouraged to make individual arrangements.
