At the Montauk Club - September 2017

The New Fall Season is about to begin

Before you head out for that last summer adventure, we wanted to remind you that your club opens for the Fall Season on Wednesday, September 6th. The staff is busy preparing the Club to welcome you back. Several changes (some already announced) are in the works. Here is the list of changes or special events currently planned for the fall:

▪ Jazz Nights will be held twice a week on Thursday and Friday beginning September 14th. These evening will continue through November and will pick up again in January.
▪ Steakhouse Night on final Fridays September 29th and October 27th.
▪ Gym Discount arrangement with Body Reserve on Union and 5th Avenue
▪ Dinner honoring Tim Thompson, who recently stepped down as Board President after 14 years -- Thursday, November 2nd, mark your calendar!
▪ Saturday night is going to be a regular evening at the Club beginning November 4th.

Jazz Nights - Every Thursday and Friday

Beginning September 14th the sounds of the music from the 20's, 30's and 40's will be heard in the first floor ballroom every Thursday and Friday. Member Jon Varnedoe has curated a solid line up. Listed below are the schedule and links to the performers' website - just click on the name.

Flea Market in the Ballroom - Sunday, September 17th

Information is not complete but word is a special Flea Market opened to the public will be held in the Ballroom.

As members you can come for brunch on the second floor and browse the bargains on the first floor.

BINGO - Wednesday, September 20th at 7:30pm

When members Fleur Hoare and Jennifer Weise host BINGO you can count on fun and prizes.

MC Steakhouse

Final Fridays Now Means Steak!

On September 29th and October 27th, the final Friday of the month will mean steak, seafood and all the fixing of a classic steakhouse.

If it is a Porterhouse steak you want, reservations will be required.

Monthly Club Meetings

Beer Club meets every the second Thursday of month at 8:00 pm in the Board Room. Next meeting September 14th.

Wine Club meets every second or third Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm. Next Meeting: Pending

Book Club meets every third Friday of the month in the Board Room. Next meeting is September 15 at 7pm readings Les Miserables by Victor Hugo and The Novel of the Century: The Extraordinary Adventure of Les Miserables by David Bellos.

Artful Dodger Poetry Readings is held the third Sunday of the month. Offering poets an open mic. Next Meeting; September 24th.

Committee Meetings

All members are welcome to join the Entertainment, House and Membership committees. In addition to these Standing committees there is also the Reciprocal and Communication committees. For more information call the Club office.

Entertainment Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month. Erin Walker-Fortin and Liz Anthony, Co-Chair.

House Committee meets the next to last Wednesday of each month. Suzy Marquard, Chair
Membership Committee meets the third Thursday of each month. David Carter, Chair
Board of Directors meets the last Wednesday of each month. Michael A. Cairl, President

Reciprocal Clubs

The Montauk Club offers its members reciprocal privileges to a number of clubs, many of which are outside of the United States. Club members wishing to avail themselves of these agreements need to obtain a letter of introduction to present to the reciprocal club for each visit. Letters may be arranged by contacting the Club Manager. For a full list of reciprocal clubs click HERE

General Clubhouse Information
* A la carte dining is available on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday beginning at 6:00 pm, with the last order to the kitchen at 9:30 pm. Friday nights, the Club is open until midnight with last call at the bar 11:45 pm. Starting November 4th, the Club will be open on Saturday nights.

▪ Our traditional Sunday brunch is served 11:00-3:00 pm, with the last order to kitchen at 2:30 pm.
▪ Happy Hour is every Wednesday 5:30-7:00 pm. Drinks are half price.
▪ For special occasions – weddings, parties, meetings, etc. – members are, of course, invited and encouraged to make individual arrangements.
