RIPTA Helps Students Get Ready for New School Year

School’s back in session and you might see more RIPTA buses along some Providence routes as we transport more Providence High School students this year. The city recently reduced the walk radius, so students who live two miles or farther from their high schools will receive RIPTA passes from the School Department. For RIPTA that means we are transporting approximately 3,000 Providence high school students in addition to our regular passengers during morning and afternoon peak hours!

In order to help students get off to a good start, members of our commuter resource team were at the schools to hand out schedules and help new passengers learn their routes. Good work by Commuter Resource RI (CRRI).

If you’re a business, school or other organization that needs help learning about RIPTA, call our resource team (CRRI) at 401-784-9575.

The upcoming “Touch A Truck” event will give children the opportunity to get up close and personal with these BIG vehicles! We’re giving your little ones the chance to sit behind the wheel of a bus and see what the view is like from a driver’s perspective. Join RIPTA from 12pm to 4pm at the Carousel.
